Things to do in Los Alcázares:

Take a trip to the many beaches in Los Alcázares

Los Alcázares boasts a sprawling seven kilometres of fine, sandy beaches, all of which are linked together via a gorgeous, paved promenade.

This means you’ll be simply spoilt for choice when it comes to picking the perfect destination for a beach day.

Marvel at the spectacle of a Murcian sunrise

Perhaps one of the most talked about attractions in Los Alcázares, and one which surprisingly isn’t a paid-for excursion, is simply the natural act of the sun rising each day.

While of course this happens everywhere, there is something particularly special about viewing the suns golden rays appear across a landscape in Los Alcázares, and is something that is well-worth waking up a few extra hours early for, especially if you have a photography-fanatic in your family!

Enjoy the local festivities

Los Alcázares is a town with rich local history. Every August, for example, la semana de la huerta y el mar (translating literally to ‘the week of the garden and the sea’), sees farmers from all around the region travelling to Los Alcázares to sell their produce. The tradition began in the 1970s, and is now being recovered as the town overcomes the hurdles of the pandemic.

In October, as the summer heat slides away, you can celebrate el Día del Caldero, a day where locals and tourists alike take to the beach and cook traditional dishes from the Mar Menor area. It’s a great opportunity to socialise with the community, perhaps over some caldero and Calasparra rice

Over the Easter weekend, you can also take part in la semana de los Berberíscos, which sees the town decorated in medieval style, as locals relive the history of pirate attacks on the town. There are acrobatic displays, medieval markets, and you can feast at one of many excellent local restaurants – there’s plenty to be marvelled at.

If you’re looking for a day of sporting fun, then look no further than the Centro Deportivo Los Alcázares

Whether you’re simply visiting and there happens to be an event, or perhaps you’re looking for a place for regular Christian services, then the Salt Church will be ready to greet you with open arms.
